Anniversary Invitation Rules

The great thing about invitations for your anniversary is that anything goes.

There are no set rules like there are for a wedding invitation and no etiquette guidelines to follow. You will find places that will disagree with that and give you a whole load of examples to follow but they are mainly following guidelines for a wedding or general formal invitation.

Formal Anniversary Invitation Top Tips

If you want to have a more formal invitation then following wedding wording etiquette is a good way to get that across to your guests. If you want a formal party you will need a formal invitation to set the tone.

  1. Most formal wedding invitations are sent from the bride's parents but as this is your Anniversary you may want to have the invitation sent from your children, or you could send it from yourselves.
  2. All formal invitations are written in the third party.
  3. If you have a particular theme to your anniversary party and you want your guests to be involved then it is a good idea to mention it in the invitations. The same goes if there is a dress code.

Quite often the venue will dictate the dress code, no one would turn up at the most glamorous venue in town in a pair of jeans! (Well some would but you probably know who they would be anyway! Maybe give them a gentle reminder closer to the day on the dress code.)
