Anniversary Poem - To My Husband On Our 50th Anniversary
by Amanda Tams
(England)
We’ve been together fifty years now Through many a laugh and furrowed brow When you asked me if I would be your wife You promised back then it would be for life The only promise you ever kept Since the day me from my feet you swept You come in late- the pub does call You never shave at weekend-not at all. I have to remind you to put your teeth in a glass An evening out dancing you always will pass Your skin wrinkled and eyes are dim Your hearings shot and you don’t do the gym But fifty years have now passed my love It seems just yesterday We said “I do” to each other on that special day I love you no more than I did back then You have always been my King amongst men I know I have aged as time passed by You never told me even with a sigh Happy Fiftieth Anniversary to us my love We fit together as a hand in glove.
